Varilux® No Line Progressive Lenses

Varilux® is a type of progressive addition lens (PAL), which is also called a “progressive” or “no line” lens that is actually a modern replacement for multifocal lenses such as bifocals or trifocals typically used to help people see up close or arm’s length when they reach the age of presbyopia. Presbyopia is the gradual loss of your eyes’ ability to focus on nearby objects. Some signs of presbyopia include the tendency to hold reading materials at arm’s length, blurred vision at normal reading distance and eye fatigue, as well as headaches when doing near work.  Progressive lenses like Varilux® provide all the benefits of a bifocal without a separating line and the attendant “image jump” that some people experience with bifocals. You get a full range of vision correction without taking glasses on and off by slightly looking up for far away, ahead for intermediate, and down for seeing better close up. There are actually a number of types of Varilux® progressive lenses that we might recommend depending on your particular needs.

Transitions® Light Intelligent Lenses

Transitions® Light Intelligent Color Changing Lenses automatically adapt to changing light-darken when outdoors and return to clear when indoors! Transitions® provides the best visual performance-day or night-indoors and out. Not just grey-green or brown, Transitions® Signature® GEN 8™ makes it easy to pick your color and create your style!

Comfort & Convenience
Transitions® Lenses for eyeglasses use advanced technology to give you the benefits of clear lenses indoors and at night, plus distinct advantages of sunglasses outdoors – all in the convenience of one lens. Transitions® Lenses are clear indoors and at night but automatically adjust their level of tint to changing light conditions outdoors. They provide visual comfort and quality at any and every moment, helping you to see better today. This is a convenient and comfortable way to overcome the limitations of regular clear lenses which can allow the glare of the sun to cause you to squint and strain your eyes and make it difficult to see objects clearly in bright light.

Ultraviolet UV Protection
In addition, Transitions® Lenses work to protect you just like sun block protects your skin. Transitions® Lenses help preserve the health and wellness of your eyes by blocking 100% of harmful UV rays. Transitions® Lenses use special photochromic dyes which are activated when exposed to Ultraviolet of UV light. The activation of these dyes causes them to darken and to reversibly “tint” the lens. When exposure to the UV light diminishes, the lenses fade back to clear. As outdoor light conditions change, the level of darkness adjusts, creating just the right level of tint and allowing just the right amount of light to enter the eyes at any given time. This action allows Transitions® Lenses to help protect your eyes from the light you can see – reducing glare, diminishing eye strain and fatigue and enabling you to distinguish contrast more easily.

It’s important to note that no matter how light or dark your Transition® Lenses are, they are always blocking 100% of eye-damaging UVA and UVB rays. In other words, Transitions® Lenses provide automatic protection from UV rays in any environment, continually protecting your eyes from the light you can’t see while you enjoy comfort and vision quality in the light that you can see.

Transitions® lenses begin to darken the instant they are exposed to UV light. The greater the intensity of the UV rays, the darker the lenses become. The moment UV rays are no longer present the lenses immediately begin to fade back to their clear state. Most wearers report that the adjustment happens so quickly and smoothly, they are unaware of it. But, they remain aware of the visual comfort the lenses continue to provide in any light.

Transitions® Are Always in Style
Transition® Lenses are compatible with virtually all frame styles, including the latest fashion frames. And they’re available in most types of lens materials and designs -including plastic, polycarbonate (shatter-resistant) and high index (thinner and light weight), and including single vision lenses, bifocals, multifocal and progressive lenses. The Opticians at South Jersey Eye Physicians will help you select the Transition® Lenses that provide the everyday convenient protection, visual quality and visual comfort you are looking for.

Maui Jim® Sunglasses

As with many timely business ideas, Maui Jim® Sunglasses were born out of need. In this case, the need was for a sunglass that would eliminate the harsh Hawaiian glare without distorting the beautiful colors of the island scenery. After years of research and development, this became a reality and Maui Jim® PolarizedPlus® emerged. Most polarized lenses stop with ordinary polarizing film. Maui Jim® Sunglasses with PolarizedPlus® incorporate polarization film to block reflected glare, plus a bi-gradient mirror and anti-reflective treatment to block glare from above, below and behind. Maui Jim has recently taken that technology a step further by incorporating three rare earth elements – praseodymium, erbium and neodymium – to increase the amount and quality of the red, blue and green the eye naturally perceives. Combined with Maui Jim®’s patented glare solution, the result is unmatched protection; deep, saturated color vision; and a higher level of contrast and depth perception.

Maui Jim® Material Availability
PolarizedPlus2 is currently available in all lens materials including SuperThin™ glass, polycarbonate, and Maui Evolution – a proprietary material that offers the quality of optics approaching that of a glass lens, while offering the lightweight performance of a polycarbonate demanded by active consumers.

Maui Jim® Colors & Lens Styles
Maui Jim® materials are available in four colors Neutral Grey-bright direct sunlight, Maui Rose®-fast action sports; HCL® Bronze-hazy, foggy overcast & Maui HT (High Transmission)-low light. Maui Jim® eyewear is available in Plano lenses as well as proprietary free form/digital single vision and progressive designs.
